DNS lookups

Checks run in your browser. Your browser sends DNS questions (for example “TXT record of _dmarc.yourdomain.com”) directly to Cloudflare's public resolver at cloudflare-dns.com, and to Google Public DNS at dns.google if Cloudflare doesn't answer. Those requests don't pass through our servers. Cloudflare's and Google's own privacy policies apply to them.

Files our server fetches

Browsers can't read the MTA-STS policy file or BIMI logo and certificate from other websites, so for those two checks your browser asks our Cloudflare Function, which fetches the URLs published in the domain's own DNS and returns them. We don't log or store the domain or the files beyond Cloudflare's standard request handling and a 5-minute cache.

Feedback you send us

Feedback is always optional. When you answer “Did this report work for you?” under a report, or send a message with the feedback form, we store one entry in our database (Cloudflare D1) containing:

  • the page (for example spf-checker) and the time you sent it;
  • your answer (yes or no) and the reason you picked, or the form category (bug, idea, new check or tool, other);
  • the text you wrote, if any (at most 1,000 characters);
  • your email address, only if you typed one;
  • for report answers: which checks failed or warned (for example “SPF, DMARC”) — and the domain you checked only if you tick “Include … so we can reproduce it”;
  • your browser and operating system family without versions (for example “Chrome/Windows”), your country as reported by Cloudflare, and the site version.

We don't store your IP address. To stop abuse, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a secret and the current minute for about five minutes; it can't be turned back into the address.

Your email address is used only to reply to that message. It is not added to any mailing list and not shared with anyone.

Feedback is deleted automatically after 12 months. To have it deleted sooner, send us a message with the feedback form from the same email address. If your feedback can't be sent (for example when you're offline), your browser keeps it in local storage and tries again on your next visit, for up to 7 days.

No accounts, no cookies, no tracking

There are no accounts, cookies or advertising. Your theme choice and any feedback waiting to be sent are stored in your browser's local storage. There are no analytics or tracking scripts.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies.
